Our First Trip To Ireland - May
2002
We were fortunate to be invited to Ireland to attend the wedding of
Michael's brother, Paschal and his bride Angela. They were married in a
beautiful restored church called Cratloe. Here are Paschal, Angela, her
sisters, and Paschal's brothers, Robert and Joseph.

After three days of wonderful wedding celebration, we headed up the
coast toward Michael's home in Sligo. Along the way Rita, Michael and Antoinette
showed us the sights! Here we are at the Cliffs of Moher-beautiful rocky
cliffs covered with green grass and moss.

This photo is the view from King John's Castle in Limerick where we
spent the day touring with Michael's family.

Here you can enjoy the "forty shades of green" that Ireland
has to offer. This country is so rolling and beautiful.

Mullagmore
is the castle that was owned by Lord Mount- batton, who was killed by an
IRA bomb in 1980. It is currently owned by Prince Charles, who has never
visited.

Here we have the city of Sligo, which is on the Garavogue River. This
"warehouse" area has been revitalized into popular pubs and boutiques

This
is the shore at Strand Beach out from Sligo. This beautiful area is only
about 20 minutes from Michael's home. They offer "seaweed" baths
here and we were tempted to try one, but couldn't decide about getting
into a tub filled with green, slimy seaweed!!
.
This gorgeous, serene lake is near Kylemore Abbey. The picture was almost
not taken because cloudy conditions!

Kylemore Abbey, which is an exclusive boarding school for girls. These
girls make pottery to support the Abbey-cream colored pottery with red
fuschia flowers cascading down it.

This is Galway on the River Shannon where Michael's brother, Joseph
lives. It is a pretty university city.

.
Killaloe
is a quaint village on the River Shannon where this picture was taken from
atop the bell tower of the city's only Protestant Cathedral. We were invited
by two of the church's parishioners to see "the most beautiful view
of Killaloe in the city" and they certainly were right!!
